Mission
The Mission of The Newberry Institute is to strengthen resilient communities through partnerships and purpose by preserving history, providing education, promoting interfaith dialogue and pathways to self reliance.
Our Story
The Newberry Institute (TNI) was founded with a simple yet powerful vision: to build resilient communities through purposeful partnerships. Rooted in the heart of Hawkinsville, Georgia, our journey began with the belief that lasting change is possible when we come together to address challenges and create opportunities.
Guided by the values of collaboration, compassion, and community, TNI started as a small initiative to combat food insecurity and strengthen local ties. Over time, we’ve grown into a multifaceted organization impacting lives through environmental conservation, interfaith dialogue, civic engagement, and more. Each of our programs reflects our commitment to fostering growth, equity, and sustainability.
From the establishment of Rosa’s Food Pantry to the creation of spaces like Ameenah’s Interfaith Center and Annie Lee’s Porch, we’ve remained dedicated to empowering individuals and communities. Our forestry and conservation initiatives highlight our passion for protecting natural resources, while the Plow & Pew Democracy Center embodies our belief in the power of civic engagement to shape a brighter future.
Our story is not just about programs—it’s about the people who have walked this path with us. Volunteers, partners, and community members have been the driving force behind turning challenges into opportunities for growth and transformation.
As we look ahead, our vision remains clear: to continue building bridges, fostering resilience, and creating lasting impact. Together, we can shape a more equitable, sustainable world. Join us as we write the next chapter of our story—one partnership, one initiative, and one community at a time.
